Merima receives the Finnish Entrepreneur of the Year award for 2019
Suomen Yrittäjät, the Federation of Finnish Enterprises, has today awarded the National Entrepreneur of the Year award for 2019 to Merima, the company providing turnkey deliveries of cruise and passenger vessel interiors.
“Merima’s aim has always been to provide the best possible quality for our customers and to be the leading company in our chosen field globally,” says Mikko Mäkiranta, Deputy CEO of Merima. “This award is great recognition from fellow entrepreneurs that we have succeeded in our goals.”
Although the award is a national Finnish one, Merima are an international company with offices in Helsinki, Fort Lauderdale, Hamburg and Shanghai, capable of providing steel-to-steel turnkey passenger ship interiors anywhere in the world.
Merima are also known for being capable of dealing with even the most demanding projects. “We have never come across architectural designs we couldn’t turn into reality,” explains Mauri Mäkiranta, CEO and co-founder of Merima. “We have been in this business for 32 years, and the references speak for themselves. Of course, at the same time we have to be able to constantly demonstrate our skills anew, both in terms of price and schedules.”

Worldwide growth is a major part of Merima’s strategy. Highlights for 2019 so far include the opening of the new office in Hamburg and a major deal with the RMC (Rauma Marine Constructions) shipyard to provide interior solutions for all passenger areas, cabins and most technical space
