Safety Manager

The Role
We are now looking for an experienced Safety Manager with a clear focus on occupational safety. This role is key in ensuring safe working practices and the wellbeing of our people in shipyards and in-house production facilities worldwide.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and implement an occupational safety strategy in line with our operational goals.
- Ensure compliance with international workplace safety standards (e.g. ISO 45001, OSHA) and local regulations.
- Carry out risk assessments, audits, and lead incident investigations.
- Deliver engaging health & safety training and strengthen a culture of wellbeing.
- Lead change management initiatives to embed safety into daily operations and drive continuous improvement.
- Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, in-house production teams, and HR to make occupational safety a natural part of everyday work.
What you bring
- Proven experience in occupational safety management in construction site environments – ideally shipbuilding, heavy construction, or other large-scale industrial projects.
- Solid knowledge of international occupational health & safety standards (e.g. ISO 45001, OSHA).
- Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills.
- Ability to work effectively across cultures and geographies.
- Fluency in Finnish and English; other languages are an advantage.

This recruitment process is handled in collaboration with Staffpoint Professionals, but the employment contract will be signed directly with Merima. The role is permanent and based in Turku or Helsinki, Finland. The Safety Manager will report to Vice President, Project Operations.
